Family Cruising

A cruise is the perfect way to enjoy a family holiday with guaranteed activities for the kids and more than enough to keep parents entertained at all times. No matter if you want to spend a holiday with the pace turned up to fun and adventure or set a more relaxed, quiet pace, a family cruise holiday will provide more than enough for all tastes. Family Cabins
Cabins are adapted to accommodate families. Some will feature ‘Pullman Berths’ or to give them their colloquial name, bunk beds, which are ideal for younger families. Some family cabins & suites come with separate sleeping areas, though the additional space is reflected in the cost.

Meal Times
On many cruise ships, the dining options are virtually limitless. The traditional ‘early’ and ‘late’ dining sittings may not be the most appropriate for some families, especially with younger children, so some cruise lines now feature ‘anytime’ dining options, buffet restaurants and specialty dining venues, where booking a table is advised.

Selected cruise lines also provide separate children’s meal times as part of their Kids Club activities, meaning parents can enjoy a quiet evening meal to themselves, if they should wish.

Kids Clubs
If your children wish to take part in organised Kids Club activities, many cruise lines cater for this with age-specific clubs – children from 6 months to 17 years are welcome to join the clubs, however children between 2 - 3 years old require a parent to stay with them.
Throughout the day there are a wide range of activities for the children, including ball pools, soft play zones, game consoles and much, much more – they’ll never be bored! Or if you fancy a night out without the kids – then the children can stay in the supervised night nursery.

On occasions some cruise lines may offer FREE child places, or reduced child fares. These promotions are usually subject to availability and limited to selected ships and dates only. The kids clubs on board are included in the price with most cruise companies, and some cruise lines offer drinks packages for children.

So, which cruise lines are best for families?
Whilst all cruise lines welcome children onboard, some cruise companies do position their product towards an older clientele, and these would not be best suited for children. Some ships are also designated as exclusively ‘adults only’, and children are not allowed onboard. If you are thinking of a family cruise holiday, we would recommend you consider the following cruise lines:

- P&O Cruises: selected ships only VenturaAuroraOceanaAzura
- Princess Cruises
- Royal Caribbean International
- Norwegian Cruise Line
- Carnival Cruises
- Costa Cruises
