Cruise LineVoyages To Antiquity
Voyages To Antiquity have created a cruise experience that is not only for the amateur or professional historian but also for people who simply want to understand the history, art, myths and culture of the ancient world. A Voyage to Antiquity cruise to the Mediterranean aims to open a window into the origins and genius of western civilisation.
The people at Voyages to Antiquity were also pioneers of cruising in the Far East. Using this local knowledge, they have created a winter cruise-tour programme which reveals the fascinating past and exotic landscapes of this extraordinary part of the world.
Their journeys, however, are not only about history. As well as visiting breathtaking archaeological treasures you will also see some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and experience the magnificent food of the Mediterranean and The Orient.

THE BENEFITS OF SMALL SHIP CRUISING
In contrast to the massive vessels cruising to and from the major ports of the Mediterranean and Southeast Asia, Voyages To Antiquity have a mid-sized ship adapted for island and coastal cruising. This means that Aegean Odyssey can visit smaller, less crowded harbours and sail closer the coast enabling you to really appreciate the magical views. Our ship's size also allows us to navigate the great rivers of Southeast Asia and berth in the heart of Bangkok, Yangon (Rangoon) and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
As they carry only an average of 350 passengers, their ship is ideal for those who dislike traveling around with hordes of people. Boutique-style cruising with Voyages to Antiquity is an extraordinary value, as fares include over $2,000 per person in out-of-pocket expenses, making the experience very inclusive. If you like to avoid crowds, wander around beautiful islands, cruise remote inlets, visit charming villages and explore ancient sites that are inaccessible to others, then Aegean Odyssey is the ideal ship.
OUTSTANDING ITINERARIES
All their voyages have been meticulously planned by the Voyages to Antiquity staff in conjunction with Lord Norwich and other noted historians. Experience tells them that combining the best of cruising and land tours is the ideal way to explore these fascinating sites and get the most from your chosen itinerary.
Shore excursions and pre- and post-cruise land packages are included in all major ports where suitable, including the spectacular "Golden Triangle" tour in India and the overnight visit to the wonder of the temples of Angkor. In certain places additional visits will be available at a supplementary cost. In places such as Burma, where the trips to the exotic royal capital of Mandalay and the magnificent pagodas of Bagan are not included, we have ensured that these wonderful excursions are offered at advantageous prices.
During all shore excursions, the expert guides will share their knowledge with the group using Quiet Vox. Through your individual headset, this remarkable device allows you to hear the tour leader clearly.
Our sightseeing itineraries are outstanding but can be strenuous therefore a reasonable level of fitness is recommended and some passengers may decide to take a break on certain days. Our daily programme will always indicate the level of walking required on excursions. Comfortable shoes and light clothing are advised. Wherever possible we have ensured that the ship is in port at night so that you have many free evenings to go ashore and explore or enjoy an after-dinner drink in a local café.
TOP LECTURERS AND CELEBRATED GUEST SPEAKERS
The lecturers and celebrated speakers who accompany you on the cruise are all first class. They have been carefully selected for their knowledge of the areas we visit and their ability to bring the history of these remarkable civilisations and cultures to life. Their informative and enlightening talks will also charm and entertain you.
Assisting the main speakers aboard ship and on land will be our team of young and keen classical history graduates. They will be on hand to answer your questions and assist the guides on sightseeing trips.
Cruise Ship MV Aegean Odyssey
- Rating:

- Tonnage: 11563 tonnes
- Capcity: 350
MV AEGEAN ODYSSEY is a premium class ship that was rebuilt to cater for cruising in the coastal waters of the central and eastern Mediterranean. The vessel provides the best features of a mid-size ship such as gracious public rooms, a choice of restaurants and stability in inclement weather.
Originally a vessel carrying up to 570 passengers, Aegean Odyssey's new configuration includes generously-sized suites, junior suites and staterooms with and without balconies. She now carries an average of 350 passengers. By creating these new staterooms we have added a dimension of spaciousness to the vessel and this has enabled us to create a special level of accommodation entitled "Balcony Class".
Classically elegant, but far from stuffy and formal, Aegean Odyssey has been designed to offer the sophisticated traveller every comfort at sea. With tastefully understated interiors, Aegean Odyssey combines the best of traditional elegance with all the modern conveniences of a first-class ship
She offers the personal service and intimate surroundings of a small ship, has the ability to visit ports that are too small for larger vessels, navigate close to scenic islands of the Adriatic and Mediterranean, as well as berth upriver in the heart of Bangkok, Yangon and Ho Chi Minh City.

Western Mediterranean
The West Mediterranean positively sparkles with possibilities. The buzz of bustling Barcelona. The glamour of the Côte D’Azur. The fountains and frescos of Rome. Arts and culture. Surf and sand. Café hopping and boutique shopping.
In fact, in the west Mediterranean, you’ll find one magical moment after another. Let the scenery and sights unfold and you’ll find culture-rich cities extending before you day after day. The cuisine is varied, ranging from enticingly rustic to contemporary and sophisticated. Rolling countryside is often just a step away. If the buzz of the city draws you, shopping opportunities range from chic boutiques to lovely local markets laden with fresh produce. A more diverse holiday is hard to come by.
Ports of call include Venice, Rome, Barcelona, Nice, Monaco, Gibraltar, Pisa and Florence.
